Consulting partners on new ethics framework

The South East CCAC has completed Phase I of an 18-month project to develop and implement a comprehensive Ethics Framework  The goal of this phase was to develop a vision and priorities for the Ethics Framework based on an assessment of our ethics needs.

Following the completion of a Current State Review and identification of Implementation Options, an Ethics Planning Workshop was held on June 28 in Kingston. The half-day session featured participation from the South East Local Health Integration Network, local hospitals, community support services providers, contracted service provider agencies and front-line South East CCAC staff from office locations across the region. Expert facilitation was provided by staff of the Joint Centre for Bioethics (JCB) from the University of Toronto.

The aims of the workshop were to i) review the Current State Review Findings and recommended implementation options, ii) to draft a three-year vision and priorities for the Ethics Framework at the South East CCAC, and iii) to provide input on four ethical principles to guide implementation of the Ethics Framework.
