Regulation under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recently issued new regulations to accompany the Long-Term Care Home Act, 2007 which came into effect on July 1, 2010. The new Act replaces the Nursing Homes Act, the Homes for the Aged and Rest Homes Act, and the Charitable Institutions Act, currently governing nursing homes and homes for the aged. The new Act, among other things, sets out new care standards and operational requirements related to Long-Term Care Homes (LTCH). The Act was designed to improve and strengthen care for LTCH residents.
